Our Birding Down Under adventure begins at The Snares Islands

Our Birding Down Under adventure got off to a fabulous start as we arrived at The Snares Islands. Hopping in our Zodiacs we immersed ourselves in the abundant wildlife that calls this towering granite landscape home. We watched in awe as hundreds of thousands of Sooty Shearwaters and thousands of Snares Pintado Petrels/Cape Petrels swarmed and swirled around us with 360-degree views.

Thousands of the endemic Snares Crested Penguins were packed along the shorelines and surrounded us in the water. We also enjoyed great views of the endemic subspecies of Fernbird and Tomtit, and some of us enjoyed fabulous observations of the elusive and rarely seen Snares Snipe.
