Helicopter Flights of Fancy in Fiordland
Today was the start of a new Southern Fiords Discovery expedition and for our arriving guests that meant starting with an epic helicopter flight with Southern Lakes Helicopters. There are few things more spectacular than flying between the spectacular snow-capped mountains of Fiordland on a clear winter's day from Te Anau to Preservation Inlet, where Heritage Explorer was waiting to welcome guests, and that is what we were treated to today.
With all aboard it was time to officially meet our captain, crew and expedition leaders as well as familiarise ourselves with life aboard Heritage Explorer and settle into our luxurious new home away from home. Later in the afternoon we sailed the reflective waters of Long Sound to our overnight anchorage in Revolver Bay, ready for our first full day of Fiordland experiences tomorrow.
