Exploring Puysegur Point
The morning dawned with a hint of rain in the air as we headed towards Puysegur Point, the more energetic among us set off for the beautiful coastal amble that is the walk out to the lighthouse. Along the way vistas of a dramatic coastal landscape revealed themselves, the geology was fascinating and surprisingly enough there were senecio aplenty in flower.
For many, a visit to Puysegur Point is akin to a pilgrimage and standing high above a never still Southern Ocean its easy to see why this iconic landscape captures the imagination of so many. Back aboard Heritage Explorer for a delicious lunch, we then ventured out in search of Preservation Inlet's mining history, and what a place to search for one's riches it is. Tonight we find ourselves once again at anchor in the sheltered waters of Preservation Inlet as a gentle drizzle falls.
