World War II history at Thursday Island
After a fantastic experience in Indonesia, today saw us arrive at Thursday and Horn Islands in the Torres Strait – home to the northernmost Australian towns. We enjoyed a tour of the extensive World War II history, as the B-17 Hudson Bombers left from here to engage the Japanese forces to the north.
We visited the local museum, which was full of war history, as this area was the second most bombed place in Australia after Darwin.
