The Beautiful Buru Island

Arriving at dawn we were stunned to see the 2700m peak of Mount Kapalatmada rising straight out of the sea behind the beautiful lagoon on west Buru Island.

We spent time on the reef watching over 70 green turtles feeding in the shallow water. It was an impressive sight. We then enjoyed a Zodiac cruise through the lagoon amongst mangroves and up a river to a lovely waterfall. 

The villagers of Pasir Putih then welcomed us into their stilt house township for a great visit.

Kayakers paddled to their hearts content with fringed mangroves, lagoons and stilted village to explore ending with paddling on to the beach then snorkeling. The rest of the morning we enjoyed snorkelling the crystal-clear waters and coral gardens just off a picture-perfect sandy beach.
