Soaring in the wind at Campbell Island

After strong winds of up to 60 knots stopped our adventure at Campbell Island yesterday, our Galapagos of the Southern Ocean adventure saw us land at Campbell Island and walk to Col Lyall Saddle to see the Southern Royal Albatross. Enjoying the expansive views, we had stunning observations of these majestic animals as they soared in the wind.

The conditions were great, with the sun shining and our position sheltering us from the wind. Heading further up the ridgeline, the wind rippled through the sea of stunning megaherbs, and we had a fantastic observation of a Campbell Island Snipe.

After an amazing albatross experience, we had a wonderful Zodiac cruise to the site of the Tucker Cove Farm and the ‘World's Loneliest Tree’ - a Sitka Spruce planted in 1905.
