Reminiscing in Bluff

Akademik Shokalskiy at Bluff

Strong winds and light rain greet us as Akademik Shokalskiy sailed into Bluff in the early hours of the morning. With the memories of the last 29 days fuelling an excellent evening in the bar the night before, including surprise musical performances and a prize giving before we sat down to an elaborate five-course degustation, we enjoy a final breakfast together reminiscing over what can only be described as a magical Antarctic experience.

Saying our farewells, it was time for our expeditioners to move on to their next adventure and time for us to prepare our trusty expedition vessel for her return to the northern hemisphere. In two days she will be joined at the wharf by her sister vessel and Heritage Expeditions' flag ship Spirit of Enderby (Professor Khromov), which will journey back down to the Ross Sea for the final Antarctic voyage of the season.
