Reclaimed by nature – snorkelling in Roderick Bay

Our Discover the Secrets of Melanesia voyage saw us arrive at Roderick Bay, in the Nggela Islands. We headed to visit the wreck of MS World Discoverer, a German cruise ship which sunk in 2000 after hitting an uncharted reef. It has since been reclaimed by nature and provides a fantastic snorkelling experience. We took our time exploring this underwater world and the nearby coral reef while others headed to the nearby village and were greeted by a fantastic welcome on the beach.

After lunch on board, Heritage Adventurer sailed to Tulagi Island to explore the prominent Pacific World War II sites of Blue Beach and the Japanese cave where soldiers hid during their battle with US forces.
