Heritage Expeditions Launches 2020/21 Brochure
Pioneering small ship expedition cruise company Heritage Expeditions is revealing some exciting announcements with the release of its 2020/21 brochure.
The upcoming expedition season will see the New Zealand-based company introduce a new, conservation-focussed 10-day voyage Chatham Islands - A Land Apart, make seven visits to Polar Bear haven Wrangel Island and welcome flagship Spirit of Enderby's sister vessel Akademik Shokalskiy back to the Heritage Expeditions' fleet.
The Chatham Islands voyage offers expeditioners the opportunity to learn the remarkable stories of rediscovery and population recovery behind the Black Robin and its rescue from the brink of extinction and the once thought extinct Chatham Island Taiko or Magenta Petrel (one of New Zealand's most endangered species) as they expedition cruise the wildlife-rich, diverse archipelagos of New Zealand's Chatham, Antipodes, Mangere, Little Mangere and Bounty Islands experiencing conservation in action.
With both fully ice-strengthened sister ships on board for Heritage Expeditions' Southern Ocean and Russian Far East programmes, the company is also planning seven visits to Polar Bear denning capital Wrangel Island on its Across the Top of the World and Chukotka - Where Russia's Day Begins voyages - a destination where lucky expeditioners saw more than 100 Polar Bears on the final expedition of the season in 2019. It also returns to Russia's Ring of Fire where seabirds and cetaceans abound, the wild and remote former 'Frontier Zone' of the North Pacific with Jewel of the Russian Far East and explores the wildlife-rich Kamchatka Coast, home to the Spoon-billed Sandpiper, and Commander Islands on Siberia's Forgotten Coast.
