Heritage Expeditions Scores Lead Feature in Wanderlust Magazine's Biggest Issue Ever

Heritage Expeditions exclusive Wrangel Island expedition cruise 'Across the Top of the World' not only made travel bible Wanderlust's 2020 Travel Hot List, it's also one of the lead features in their December 2019/January 2020 issue.

Authored by renowned travel writer Juliet Rix, the 14-page feature Polar Bear Island appears in the masthead's biggest issue ever highlighting 2020's hottest travel destinations.

Juliet travelled with Heritage Expeditions own Nathan Russ, who was on board as Expedition Leader for the Russian Far East voyage, and details smelling the "cabbagey breath" of a Grey Whale, the thrilling moment a 200-year-old 15-metre Bowhead Whale swam alongside their ship and multiple encounters with "bright-eyed, curious - and plentiful" Polar Bears, including more than a dozen sightings before breakfast one morning.

"On Wrangel there was always a creamy presence lolloping, observing or lazing somewhere in the vicinity," wrote Juliet of her experiences with Polar Bears and their cubs on Wrangel Island.

"Some took us in their stride ... Others - literally - came to meet us."
