A Summer's Day of Whales in Peningay Bay

We arrived early into Pengingay Bay and almost immediately found some brown bears on the nearby scree slopes as well as a bear on the water line feeding on the carcass of whale – everyone managed to get fantastic views from the ship. As we made our way further into the bay, we encountered a number of whales and decided to head out into the zodiacs to make the most of the opportunity. We had the privilege of spending time with approximately 30 Humpback Whales and one Grey Whale – groups of seven or eight individuals were working together to feed. Such an extra-ordinary experience, we all came back onboard with such a buzz (not to mention full camera memory cards!). With an afternoon of glorious sunshine ahead of us and temperatures sitting around 18 degrees C, some are keen for a dip in the water while others are heading on a hike to get further views up the bay.
