Put it on a postcard! A sunshine-soaked journey through Fiordland
Heritage Adventurer was basked in sunshine as we sailed into Fiordland through Thompson Sound.
Protected from the swell in the open ocean we began our first activity - a Zodiac cruise exploring the rocky coast. There was plenty to see, do and learn as Professor Rod helped us better understand the various local flora and fauna.
There were plenty of highlights observed from our Zodiacs, these included an exploration up a small, bush-flanked waterway and observing several Fiordland Crested Penguin/Tawaki.
Returning to Heritage Adventurer, it was back into the open ocean for the short transit between Doubtful and Breaksea/Dusky Sounds. We cruised slowly along the Acheron Passage with most of us on the outer decks enjoying the postcard views.
The Captain wove a tight course through the many islands in Dusky Sound and along Cook Channel to our anchorage outside Cascade Cove. We soaked in the glorious sunshine and sublime scenery of this unforgettable, uniquely New Zealand destination.
