Making Cruise History on Patnanungan Island

Heritage Expeditions made cruise history again today as the first expedition cruise ship to visit Patnanungan Island. We started today exploring the Polillo Island group with a Zodiac cruise up a mangrove-fringed river where we were met by our transport of the day - motorcycles. With one person on the back of each bike, our drivers whisked us away to explore the incredible Patnanungan Island Caves complete with tarantulas and five species of bats.

Arriving at the nearby town of Kilogan, population of 500, almost the entire town turned out to welcome their first ever expedition ship visitors. The locals proudly performed a dancing show, shared coconut wine and BBQ squid which was a warm welcome for us. It was then all aboard Heritage Adventurer for lunch and then off for a snorkel at Anirong Island exploring a stunning hard coral garden and seagrass meadow filled with neon-lit tropical fish.
