Land Ahoy - Antarctica!
We woke up to see land in the distance – we’ve arrived in Antarctica! We spent the morning taking in the jagged peaks of the Admiralty Range as we slowly made it through the pack ice closer and closer to Cape Adare. Beaked Whales greeted us off the ship’s port side and Adele Penguins scurried as the ship pushed through the loose pack ice. The pack ice didn’t allow a Cape Adare landing at this time, but we continued south to the Possession Islands where the sea and wind calmed after dinner and we all went on a zodiac cruise around the islands to view a large Adele penguin colony and icebergs.
