Akademik Shokalskiy Cruises into Lyttelton
Heritage Expeditions fully ice-strengthened polar expedition vessel Akademik Shokalskiy pulled into former volcano Lyttelton Harbour in Christchurch, New Zealand at 0730 hours under a grey morning sky.
Spirit of Enderby's (Professor Khromov) sister ship will spend the next few days in port getting prepped, loaded and spruced up ready to join her sibling on our Southern Ocean Season.
Akademik Shokalskiy joins us for three expeditions this season - Subantractic adventure Galapagos of the Southern Ocean, legendary Ross Sea voyage In the Wake of Scott & Shackleton and returns to Cape Denison, Commonwealth Bay as we attempt our first visit in 8 years to Mawson's Huts on our In the Wake of Mawson expedition.
