2 Feb Voyage: Shokalskiy Final Day

The group was entertained on the final day of this expedition with a couple of visual presentations which highlighted the passion many people bring to their work in the natural world.  The first was from Jason Hosking, a freelance photographer who shared a superb study of Tuis photographed in his own garden, his award winning images and a selection of his favourites from Antarctica. Samuel then gave a presentation about his work, the lifestyle and wildlife he experienced during the 15 months he spent at the French research station, Dumont D’Urville in 2006.

Everyone enjoyed being able to amble around the decks during the afternoon, relishing the sunshine and the opportunity to capture shots of Albatross circling the skies behind the ship. The final presentation was a recap of the expedition from Expedition Leader Rodney who thanked his team and the expeditioners for making this such a memorable journey.  Samuel then showed an outstanding chronological compilation of photos set to music about the entire 35 day trip which was generously made available to everyone as a keepsake. The group then tucked into the sumptuous 8 course evening meal Matt and Connor had created in celebration of their last evening on board.
