SHO: Campbell Island Options

5 February, 2018

The second day at Campbell Island was accompanied by wind gusting to 40 knots and occasional rain and light hail. The walk to North-West Bay by 13 guests along with four staff went very well and sightings were made of Snipe, a Teal and at North West Bay, of three Elephant Seals. In addition, a further Zodiac cruise to the head of Perseverance Harbour provided a chance to see more of the landscape and wildlife. Many also decided to re-visit Col Lyall and have further viewing of the magnificent Southern Royal Albatross, while others spent a shorter time about the former meteorological station. Today marked the final landings for our expedition, which will be remembered and enjoyed for a long time. Tomorrow we begin the journey home towards the port of Lyttelton.
