Returning North enroute to Campbell Island

Feb 2nd – The Southern Ocean was calm today as we crossed the Antarctic convergence and handed in our big warm Heritage coats. We enjoyed a day of documentaries and lectures as we kept our eyes peeled for seabirds and whales. We were also welcomed seeing colorful sunsets again for the first time in a few weeks.

Feb 3rd – Another good day at sea. We did an introduction lecture to Campbell Island and prepped for our arrival there tomorrow. We had a rowdy pub quiz night as passengers were tested on how well they knew Antarctica, the ship, and each other. And we had a real treat late at night when the aurora showed up and danced in the sky; a memorable sight over the Southern Ocean.
