Orca Alongside

We completed our survey of Simshur Island late last night.  The final landing for everybody was in a large flooded caldera at the northern end of the Island where we explored the remains of a Soviet Naval Base abandoned at the end of the Cold War.

This morning we circumnavigated Ketoy Island which provided some dramatic scenery, but very few Otters. Our survey of Yankicha and Riponkicha Islands produced an amazing encounter with a pod of Orca.  We have just returned to the ship from surveying the southern part of Russhua  Island. It was an incredibly successful afternoon, with with good numbers of Otters, Fur Seals, Stella Sealions, Harbour Seals and even more Orca.
