Exploring Bukhta Russkya

Cruising Bukta Russkaya, L.Gwynn

Sailing overnight we reached the deep fiord of Bukhta Russkya on the south coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula and some short-lived fog which burned off to reveal a glorious, early summer day in the Russian Far East. Zodiac cruising across the glassy water among spectacular scenery and rafts of Stellar Sea Lions in the water and more dotting the shores was made even more special by the perfect conditions. After the day's exploration we are back on board Spirit of Enderby heading south across flat seas, and joined by a Humpback Whale, as the fading daylight creates Kodak moments on the southern end of Kamchatka Peninsula.
