Campbell Capers

After two exceptional days on Campbell Island we departed knowing the winds and swell would pick up as we made our way towards Bluff. With so many great memories to reflect on, most took time out to update the diary, read and commit the experiences to memory while we rocked and rolled out way to port.

Back in Bluff

Campbell Island blessed us with mainly clear weather and expeditioners stretched their legs on the Col Lyall boardwalk, a longer day hike to North West Bay or an ascent of the highest peak on the island, Mount Honey at 569 metres. Zodiac cruising in Perseverance Harbour yielded sightings of Campbell Island Teal, Light-mantled Sooty Albatross and historic human sites including the ‘loneliest tree in the world’.  The flowering megaherbs and Southern Royal Albatross soaring just metres above our heads were certainly highlights for many. We have just arrived at the wharf in Bluff and expeditioners are preparing to disembark. With new friendships made and the 'Subantarctic Islands Sparkle' in their eyes, we will soon bid them farewell.
