Russian Far East - Season 2021 Highlights

As we explore some of the planet’s most remote and spectacular wildernesses, the safety and wellbeing of everyone on board our expedition voyages is our highest priority. And the situation with COVID-19 was no different.  

Our recent Russian Far East 2021 season was our second, consecutive COVID-19-free season instituting a number of effective protocols and processes to mitigate and minimise the COVID-19 risk during every stage of the the following voyages:

• Russia's Natural Wonders: War, Wildlife and Volcanoes in Kamchatka and The Kuril Islands - 22 Jun 2021 
• In The Wake of Bering: The Commander Islands and Kamchatka - 30 Jun 2021 
• Across the Top of the World: Wrangel Island - 2 Aug & 16 Aug 2021
• Jewel of the Russian Far East: Kamchatka Coast - 30 Aug 2021

Among the new protocols, from 1 November 2021 Heritage Expeditions requires every guest, crew and staff member on board its vessels to be vaccinated with a WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccine. Heritage Expeditions continues to monitor all guests prior to boarding and full vessel sanitisation between voyages; Hand sanitiser stations have been installed throughout our vessels, and personal sanitation supplies are provided in all cabins. With these and many other measures in place, we are able to continue to ensure the safety of all involved in our expedition operations. 

Planning ahead for our 2022 Russian Far East season – and continuing our cruises around New Zealand, the Subantarctic Islands and to Antarctica's Ross Sea – we will institute all necessary measures to keep everyone safe.
