Soaring alongside Albatross in Fiordland

Guest spirits were soaring on our Southern Fiords Discovery voyage following an unforgettable day in the company of 6 different species of Albatross at the weekend - including some incredible flybys from a trio of Light-mantled Sooty Albatross.

The avian acrobatics included close passes to our 18-guest expedition yacht Heritage Explorer and the incredible formation flying Light-mantled Sooty Albatross are known for against some spectacular Fiordland coastline as we cruised from Thompson to Breaksea Sound.

These stunning masters of flight were observed alongside Black-browed, Buller's, White-capped and Northern and Southern Royal Albatross all in the same day as well as observations of Southern Giant Petrel and Wilson's Storm Petrel as we explored the wilds of Fiordland's Southern Fiords.
