Galapagos of the Southern Ocean: New Zealand and Australia's Subantarctic Islands

“A Superb, Exciting, Professionally-led and Informative Adventure”

“My recent voyage to the sub-Antarctica islands south of New Zealand, including Macquarie Island, with Heritage Expeditions was a superb, exciting, professionally led and informative adventure. With guides (read ‘knowledgeable experts’) as part of the Heritage crew, no request (can we see that last 50 metres of the coastline again? I thought I saw a teal) or question was too difficult. Rare animals, birds and plants were seen, towering basalt cliffs admired and although not everything was arranged by the staff and crew, we did have a special treat of the Aurora Australis appearing twice within 3 nights… truly a spectacular display by Mother Nature. Our Zodiac excursions were all safe and comfortable even when disembarking in ocean swells and the ship’s crew were all smiling and attentive folk. All sections of the ship were easily accessed by passengers and always met with a welcoming smile. Meals on board were most delicious (an extensive menu at every meal) with a very kind restaurant staff meeting every need or special request. In all, my 12 days of travel with Heritage on the Southern Ocean was as good, if not better, than any of my 5 previous adventures with similar companies. Thank you Cheli, Robyn, Andy, Tom and all others for the truly unforgettable time! ”
