Immersed in the Scottish charms of Dunedin
Sailing into the Scottish-infused city of Dunedin, this morning was the first time we could walk off the gangway and straight into the bus.
We went to the Royal Albatross Centre and could choose between visiting the Botanical Garden and the Portobello Marine Laboratory or the Tūhura Otago Museum in combination with the Tūhura Tropical Forest.
The Otago Museum had a great guided tour that took us through a fascinating collection of Māori artefacts and history, a butterfly exhibition and much more. Followed by a fantastic tour through the Tropical Forest.
In the Botanical Garden, we enjoyed the experience with our own on board Botanists, and what a great exchange of knowledge it was. Afterwards, we went to the Portobello Marine Laboratory and discovered the secrets about the local marine life. A nice touch was that one of our expedition team used to work there as well.
Returning to Heritage Adventurer at 1630, we sailed away during a high tea on the high seas, making our way to Lyttleton where we will use our beloved Zodiacs again.
