Waiting Game

We are currently riding out a huge southern ocean storm, the result of a very deep depression we have been watching approach for some days. We enjoyed the advantage of the strong north/north-westerly winds pushing ahead of the depression which carried us southwards at a good pace as we watched the barometer plummet. The depression passed right over the top of us this morning and the wind changed to the southwest as it gradually increased to gale force. We are in relatively sheltered waters here, but outside there is snow, sleet and zero visibility, with winds gusting to 50 knots. There is no chance of landing today, but conditions look more promising for tomorrow.  We are safe, warm and dry with plenty of good food, so spirits are high as we play the waiting game.
