Rennel Island Welcome
First light saw the keen birders ashore to seek out the birds of Rennel Island. Within half an hour we had seen most of the endemic species on our target list including excellent views of Silver-capped Fruit Dove, Rennell Shrikebill, Fantail and White-eye.

The rest of the group went ashore a little later to be welcomed by the locals, then taken on a short tour around the village and school. Later they enjoyed cooling off in the ocean and had a wonderful time snorkelling on the reef. This was the perfect introduction to the Solomon Islands.
