Medney Island Landing

The weather hadn’t improved a lot overnight but we were able to make a very successful landing in the sheltered waters of Peschanya Bay on Medney Island. Both birders and botanists were very happy with their time spent ashore here. We are now cruising towards Commander Bay where Commander Vitus Bering’s ship was wrecked on Bering Island in 1741. The location where he died and is now buried is rarely visited, so a landing there will be noteworthy for those interested in the exploration of the North Pacific.
