Making History

This morning the weather has deterioated, but it hasn't stopped us making history. We are currently sailing through the Small Kuril Islands, very close to the Russian/Japanese border - almost certainly the first tourist ship to enter these disputed waters. This hasn't been without its problems however and we were delayed last night at Kunashir because of problems with the ship's paperwork. Fortunately a few phone calls to our office in Kamchatka resolved the situation.

We were pleasantly surprised to see two Shorttailed Albatross circling the ship this morning.  This afternoon we will be at Zelyony Island where we hope the weather will improve as we begin looking for Sea Otters.
