Macquarie Island Visit

This evening we reluctantly sailed away from Macquarie Island which had enthralled the group with its abundant wildlife. Expeditioners enjoyed two days exploring the coastline, and particularly enjoyed encounters at the huge Royal Penguin colony. We were warmly welcomed by staff at the ANARE base who always enjoy the diversion of contact with visitors to their lonely outpost. The weather was fairly kind and we accomplished most of what we set out to do.
