Lake Komsomol, Wrangel Island
With the cloud lifting at our planned landing at Lake Komsomol, we discovered a high number of bears scattered around its shores and after gathering into a tight group we moved onto a sand spit where we had great views of several bears across a small channel of water. It was marvellous to be so close and having the time to watch the movements of the bears, especially when two individuals moved past each other eyeing one another carefully. Tomorrow we will arrive at our next destination, Herald Island, which is remote even by Wrangel Island standards.
