Illegal Fishing Intercepted
Seeking shelter behind Yuri Island during a passing storm yesterday, we observed a fishing vessel operating illegally within a prohibited zone. Inspectors on board the Spirit of Enderby for the Sea Otter Survey launched a zodiac and boarded the vessel to issue an infringement notice. Despite holding a valid landing permit, we lost two precious hours of daylight when delayed landing on Yuri Island by local Border Guards. However, a number of female Sea Otters with young have been seen here.
