Honiara Welcomes and Farewells

Today has been busy for all aboard the Spirit of Enderby with the Melanesian Discoverer itinerary coming to an end and the Secrets of Melanesia beginning. Activities began before the day had even dawned with the birders gathering and heading for the hills, or Mt Austin to be precise, where a successful morning was had with most of the expected species being seen by the group. The rest of both groups enjoyed a tour of Honiara and surrounds including visits to the Parliament and War Memorials followed by a visit to the bustling markets and China town to experience life Honiara style. During the afternoon the breeze increased so embarking the Spirit of Enderby was a great introduction to the Zodiacs. Having completed our introductions and briefings we are now enroute to San Jorge Island and Santa Isabelle.
