Honiara - Farewells and Welcomes
Our day started early with a keen flock of birders heading ashore to explore Mt Austin. The remainder of those departing the ship had a slightly later start and went ashore after breakfast to explore the City and surrounding areas of Honiara. After an interesting visit the ‘Melanesia Discoverer’ expeditioners returned to the waterfront before some headed homewards and others stayed on in Honiara.
Meanwhile, the ’Secrets of Melanesia’ group gathered and Expedition Leader Nathan Russ joined them for dinner on 26 Oct. There was time to explore Honiara in the morning before lunch and following lunch, an arranged tour to visit the surrounding areas of Honiara.
With everyone onboard, Spirit of Enderby lifted anchor and ’Secrets of Melanesia’ expedition set off to explore.
