Gusty in Carnley

Visibility was low and it was blowing 30kts as we made our way into the narrow entrance of Carnley Harbour at 0630. Our objective for the morning was Tagua Bay, site of the WWII Coast Watchers Station. It was a wet ride ashore and a windy walk through the Rata forests to the remains of the station which provides a link to our recent past. Bird calls were down but indications of pigs were all around. By the time the party returned to the ship we were experiencing 40kt plus gusts which put a strain on the anchors and made for an exciting ride back. All thoughts now turned to the challenging leg as we push south-west deep into the Southern Ocean through the Furious 50's to Macca!
