Final Leg

This evening we began the run back to New Zealand and have 360 nautical miles to travel. The weather forecast is promising with winds set to ease overnight so we should enjoy a calm passage. Our final shore adventure for this voyage was on Campbell Island, which never fails to perform for us and this visit was no exception.

Campbell Island Guardian

Yesterday one group took an 8 hour walk to NW Bay while others explored the rich cultural heritage of the island with a Zodiac cruise to the upper harbour, landing at many historic sites. In the afternoon most took the boardwalk to the Southern Royal Albatross colony and enjoyed an afternoon communing with these magnificent birds. This morning a group visited the old coastwatchers hut while others hiked the hills for one last wilderness experience before our sea journey back to the Port of Bluff.
