El Nino Takes a Break

El Nino has at last decided to take a holiday and we were the benefactors of a welcome break in the weather. We spent a glorious day on Enderby Island yesterday where most of our group walked around the island photographing the megaherbs and wildlife. One of the highlights for me was watching and listening to the youthful Enderby Trust scholarship recipients who were simply overwhelmed by the beauty of these islands and rendered speechless when asked to describe their experiences. It is such a thrill to see young people so enthusiastic. The planet will be in good hands if their passion is not diminished by frustration and compromised after they graduate. We spent this morning in the upper reaches of the North Arm of Carnley Harbour where there are some great human history stories and even better scenery. A visit to where the Grafton was wrecked proved particularly poignant for those who had read the book ‘Island of the Lost’.
