Carnley Caldera
We are currently enroute to Macquarie Island and sea conditions are exceptionally good. The sea shop opened this morning for people to purchase gifts and souvenirs including postcards which will be posted at Macquarie and later this afternoon we will continue our lecture series.
Yesterday we enjoyed a glorious day in Carnley Harbour (the caldera of a long extinct volcano) at the Auckland Islands. Outside there was heavy fog but once inside we enjoyed blue sky and sunshine. One group climbed to SW Cape to view and photograph the Auckland Island White-Capped or Shy Albatross while another group took a Zodiac cruise along the coast of Adams Island and Western Harbour, where they reported some great wildlife encounters including the New Zealand Falcon.
