Birding Delights Down Under

Snares Zodiac Cruise Birding Down Under

(c) R. Iveson-Brown

Setting sail from the Port of Bluff on Heritage Expeditions’ annual Birding Down Under Expedition we were treated to some spectacular birding on our first Zodiac cruise of the voyage.

The Snares were bathed in sunshine as we headed out and within the first 10 minutes of our Zodiac cruise we were treated to sightings of the Snares Island Tomtit and Fernbirds. With these early wins under our belts, we were able to spend more time observing the Snares Crested Penguins and the amazing geology of these islands.

The penguin slide is always a highlight, with the comings and goings of these plucky little birds both mesmerising and comical giving everyone much to discuss back onboard Spirit of Enderby after an eventful day.
