Bipi Island Welcome

We began the day with the wonderfully warm and moving welcome from the people of Bipi, a small island to the north of Manus Island. Bipi is seldom visited and the islanders treated us to a spectacular display of their customary dancing and singing.

In the afternoon most of our group went snorkelling in the warm and crystal clear waters off Bipi. Later conservation biologist from Heritage Expeditions, Mark Ziembicki, delivered a fascinating introduction to the cultural and natural history of Papua New Guinea. We ended the first part of the evening with the usual re-cap from Aaron who then outlined the activities for tomorrow before yet another delicious dinner.
