Bering Strait Science
The image below captures a rare treat in the Bering Strait – glass calm waters with the midnight sun setting behind Big and Little Diomede Islands with Russia and Alaska visible on either side of the Strait.
We have been enjoying good weather conditions throughout this scientific research voyage and so far all work is going to plan. One monitoring buoy has been launched and several water transects have been completed. We are now slowly making our way back towards Anadyr, completing further transects as we travel. On Thursday the science team will disembark and we will welcome our passengers who will attend the Beringian Arctic Games.
