Bering Island Whale Watching

Starting at daylight with a zodiac cruise along the south coast of Bering Island on the Commander Islands, we entered a canyon-like rock structure and got the chance to see both black and red-legged kittiwake on the same cliff face along with plenty of puffins. However, even the fanatical birders amongst us said that the highlight of the cruise was actually the arctic fox which later came right up next to our zodiacs while we were still inside the canyon! The second part of the morning was dedicated to whale watching. Around 70 Humpback Whales and a pod of orcas graced us with their presence – along with several Laysan albatrosses and two Short-tailed Albatrosses. It was hard to decide what to look at - we had so much wildlife around.
