2 Feb Voyage: Shokalskiy in Windy Aucklands

We had a nice run to the Auckland Islands. The weather was good, and although it was windy, it was not as bad as we had previously experienced, so passengers managed to catch up on some sleep. Port Ross welcomed us with blue skies and sunshine as we came to anchor at 2000, so dinner was a jovial affair with everyone in high spirits as they looked forward to landing on Enderby Island. However at 0600 this morning it is cloudy again and the wind is 40m/sec (about 8 knots) which will make landing here very difficult. The Expedition Leader will soon make the call on whether we will launch the Zodiacs to go ashore or relocate to a more sheltered position.
