2 Feb Voyage: Shokalskiy Approaching Campbell
Marcus gave a presentation about the Fram Museum during our final day at sea before we reach Campbell Island. He told us about the annual celebrations held during the first week of December which had many considering a trip to Oslo later this year. Grigory then shared his extensive knowledge of Gray Whales gained over two decades of research on this species. The day ended with a screening of superb original footage of Amundsen’s epic achievements. We came to anchor in the shelter of Perseverance Harbour at Campbell Island at 2300hrs so everyone could enjoy a calm night. I am sorry to report that no Leap Year proposals were made aboard this ship!
