Successful Landing at Inexpressible Island
We had a rare still morning at Inexpressible Island and was able to do a landing. Everyone enjoyed the first steps on land after seven days on the ship! After viewing the historic winter ice cave sight of Scott’s Northern Party, some people went hiking up the ridge for expansive views of the Priestly Glacier and surrounding mountains. Others sat and observed the Adele Penguin colony and numerous Weddell seals strewn along the coastline. After lunch on the ship we returned to Inexpressible for more wildlife time and an energetic few went for a long hike, others photographed some Emperor Penguins who had come ashore. However, the katabatic winds started up in the late afternoon, signalling that our time on Inexpressible Island needed to come to an end.
