Sunny Days

As we crossed into New Zealand waters once again, the seas calmed and the sun made a welcome appearance, providing perfect conditions to be out on deck albatross spotting and even sunbathing in the mild conditions!  Our day at sea yesterday provided a chance to relax, catch up on reading and attend a few lectures. Heather gave us some insights into the albatross family, Don entertained with his stories of sailing around the world and living in a container in East Antarctica, then Matt spoke about the Southern Ocean. The programme was wrapped up by Expedition Leader Rodney Russ who gave a comprehensive introduction to Campbell Island, where we are now preparing to make a landing. Everyone is keen to get ashore and stretch their legs on what promises to be an exhilarating day.
