Southern Ocean Lives up to Reputation

It has been a roller coaster of a ride since we departed Bluff Harbour on Monday. The Southern Ocean has certainly lived up to its ferocious reputation as one of the most challenging in the world, so mother nature unfortunately denied us the opportunity to Zodiac cruise the Snares Islands. Fortunately we were able to land on the Auckland Islands but the weather was not particularly kind. We are now en-route to Macquarie Island where some of our complement will disembark. These hardy souls employed by the Australian Antarctic Division, will spend months working at their base at Buckles Bay.
