Solomon Island Warriors

Our first day in the Solomon Islands was spent on and around the beautiful island of Choiseul. We started the day Zodiacing up a channel surrounded by enormous mangroves to visit a local conservation initiative. A group stayed on in the forest while the rest of us travelled by kayak and Zodiac to the village of Poroporo where we were greeted by warriors, welcomed by the chief and treated to a sing-sing. In the afternoon the snorkellers enjoyed excellent conditions at a reef protected by the Poroporo conservation initiative while the birders had a successful time spotting several species including the Ducorp’s Cockatoo.
