Elusive Snares

We had a great run south but the weather deteriorated just as we approached the Snares Islands at about 5.30am on Friday morning (we have been a bit unlucky with the Snares this year) so continued south to the Auckland Islands arriving that evening. It was great to dine in calm waters and Saturday dawned bright and sunny. It was one of those perfect days on Enderby Island that everybody will remember for a long, long time. Even those of us who visit on a fairly regular basis were impressed by the conditions. At the end of the day we had many sunburnt but happy people who had their fill of wildlife encounters and picture postcard photographic opportunities.

The weather in Carnley Harbour wasn't great this morning, but we had a great landing at the old Coast Watchers base in Tagua Bay. We are now  enroute to Macquarie Island and the Auckland Islands are slowly sinking over the horizon. Ahead lies another great adventure and we are ready for it.
