Snares Cruising

We arrived at the Snares Islands shortly after dawn. It was interesting to note a lot more Buller’s Albatross around than we normally see due to this expedition being a little later this year. Conditions weren’t ideal for launching Zodiacs as there was a strong current against a northerly wind and the resulting swell made it difficult. We aborted the first attempt, but were successful further offshore and everybody enjoyed Zodiac cruising to see the endemic Snares Crested Penguin, Fernbird and Tomtit.
